Upcoming APS Rate Review
Three years ago, Arizona resident’s were faced with a rate case involving APS and unfortunately “history tends to repeat itself”. On September 1st, 2020, APS is forcing its residents with another deadline in which their solar buyback rate is being reconsidered. For those that are not familiar with Arizona, let alone APS, the thing in question is the “export rate”. The export rate is the rate in which APS is willing to credit your account for any excess energy that is produced by your solar system and is sent back to the grid. There is some good news though, here are four reasons why you should HIGHLY consider going solar NOW:
Changes to the 10.45 cent solar buyback rate: Back in 2018 and in 2019, the rate decreased by 10% which can only lead us to believe that the upcoming rate decrease could be very similar.
Protection against any future rate changes: For homeowners that finalize their decision to go solar and start taking the steps necessary to make it happen, they will be grandfathered into the current rate and will be protected from any future rate changes until their contract ends.
Solar Tax Credits: Last year the federal tax credit (FTC) was 30% of your total system cost and this year it is 26%. This will drop to 22% on January 1st, 2021 and as of right now will completely disappear on January 1st, 2022.. As of right now, the state of Arizona is also offering a tax credit of up to $1,000 for those that go solar AND they are voiding sales tax for the purchase of solar.
Bring the power back into your own hands: When you own your own solar system, you are producing your own energy. Even though your system will have to be tied to the grid, you’ll be relying on APS as little as possible to help you out. This limits their ability to take advantage of you. Depending on your situation, it might be advantageous to even buy a battery.
If you have looked into solar in the past, realize that things change. Technology has improved over the past couple of years which leads us to having higher wattage panels and better functioning inverters. Let us put together a free quote for you. There’s no better time to go solar than now!
